The Chateau de Leon, Lion's Castle in french, was an luxury resort on the Julon Mountain range, on the planet Clipperton III.
Description
The Chateau de Leon was a complex active in 3136. Spectacularly appointed, the huge saucer-like building hung over a thousand-meter precipice, providing a great view. It had a lounge, dining hall, and a thousand-room hotel, and was very popular for tourists during the skiing season.[1]
Destruction
On 15 December 3136, a waiter named Jason detonated a half dozen pentaglycerine charges which destroyed the kitchen, blasting through the packed dining hall. The blast also destroyed the mooring pillars driven into the cliff's edge, causing most of the Chateau to tumble into the precipice at the base of the Julon Mountains. Jason was one of the thousands of victims after the Chateau fell. The total confirmed deaths was 10,642 souls.[1][2]
Consequences
Regulus's prince, Lester Cameron-Jones, after Clipperton's CorpSec forces eliminated the cell behind the attack and finished an investigation, only had proof pointing to the Word of Blake as the ones which had made the attack. However, Lester knew that Jessica Halas-Hughes Marik was behind it. And he was right: she had ordered the attack simply to distract the Regulan Fiefs while she launched a series of attacks against the planet Marik. Despite lacking any proof, Lester decided to take revenge, activating a sleeper agent in Jessica's palace on Amur, Oriente, ordering her to murder her sons, but only succeeded in killing Janos Halas and crippling Julietta Marik before being forced to escape.[3]
A decade later, the Chateau de Leon's destruction still soured relations between the Regulan Fiefs and the reborn Free Worlds League led by Jessica Marik. Lester and his wife Emlia still raged for the attack. But it was another person who made the most devastating vendetta: a Regulan named Sylas, who had lost his fiancee, Evangeline, on the Chateau, after a decade of preparations not only murdered Jessica's husband, but also blew up part of the Captain's General's palace, killing Jessica Marik, and also framed her daughter and heir, Nikol Halas-Hughes Marik, the new captain-General, for the bombing. However, he failed to decapitate the League and committed suicide before being captured.[4]
