===Misery===
Kincaid was the commander of Kincaid's Company of Baker Battalion in Delta Regiment prior to and during the [[Battle of Misery (3028)|Battle of Misery]] in 3028, which included his wife and son, [[Mary Jenkins]] and [[Michael Kincaid]].

Unfortunately for Ralph, these two family members under his command both died on [[Misery]], in one of the most tragic events of that battle for the Dragoons. Ralph responded first with grim silence, and then after a month, with a burning hatred of all things Kurita.

===Wapakoneta===
Taking command of Delta Regiment's Second Provisional Company, following Kincaid's Company being disbanded after its losses on Misery, Ralph also fought in the [[Battle of Wapakoneta (3028)|Battle of Wapakoneta]]. During that battle he attempted to lead two lances of the [[Twelfth Galedon Regulars]] away from the main body of their troops, but in the process of destroying these units he was caught in a forest fire accidently set by his own units' weapons. Refusing orders to retreat himself, because he would not withdraw from battle with those who had killed his family, Ralph did order the rest of his company to withdraw.

Together with two members of his company who chose to stay with their Captain, Ralph died a painful fiery death in the conflagration, after refusing to surrender to the superior numbers of the enemy.<ref name=WDSB></ref><ref name=NFSWVI70>''NAIS The Fourth Succession War Military Atlas Volume 1'' p. 70: "Wapakoneta", The Battle of Black Statues</ref>

Kincaid's stand became such a legend among both the Dragoons and the Kuritans that the invaders would leave the ruined husk of Kincaid's ''[[Thunderbolt]]'' standing as a memorial to what became known as the Battle of the Black Statues, its hand reaching out to "choke" the head of a Galedon ''[[Panther]]''.<ref name=NFSWVI70/>
