==History==
General Azzi was in command of III Corps on [[Diefenbaker]] when it came under counterassault by the [[Taurian Defense Force]] during the [[Reunification War]]. Diefenbaker was a [[Taurian Concordat]] world which had been occupied by the SLDF and used as the headquarters for III Corps; [[Protector of the Realm|Protector]] [[Mitchell Calderon]] dispatched the garrisons from the nearby worlds of [[Lindsay]] and [[Midale]] to launch a spoiling attack on Diefenbaker in or around September of 2584 in advance of a large-scale invasion. The initial raiding force landed as most of III Corps were already aboard [[DropShip]]s in transit to their [[JumpShip]]s, following orders to attack Lindsay. As the raiding force prosecuted a spoiling campaign against III Corps, a full invasion force was prepared and arrived in-system on the 4th of February [[2585]], beginning an extended campaign to try and capture the world. The cruiser [[Hancock|SLS ''Hancock'']] was one of at least three SLDF WarShips involved in the resulting action, and was responsible for destroying the bulk of the [[Calderon Red Hand]] [[regiment]] via orbital bombardment while trying to assist Major General Natasha Azzi and two mixed regiments of SLDF troops during the four-hour Battle of Lost Valley in May 2585.<ref name="HB:RWp84">''Historical: Reunification War'', p. 84, "Calderon's Response"</ref>

General Azzi was killed in the Battle of Lost Valley, along with the majority of the two mixed [[regiment]]s of SLDF troops trapped with her. [[Lieutenant General]] [[Hampton Craige|Hampton "Breezy" Craige]] took over command of the remaining III Corps forces, and after eventually driving the Taurian forces off Diefenbaker, Craige was promoted to Major General and established as III Corps's commanding officer.<ref name="HB:RWp84"/>
