Duncan Fisher was, as of 3054, a figure of note on Solaris VII, somehow associated with the show Solaris Tonight.

History
ApocryphalContentStart
Arena Gladiator
In Duncan Fisher's younger days he was an up-and-coming 'Mech pilot competing in the medium-weight class competition.cn

Sometime in the 3030s, Solaris Arms sponsored Fisher and paid him a lot of C-bills to showcase a souped-up BattleMech containing Helm-Core tech they had designed for the Solaris VII Arenas. They didn't anticipate Fisher losing miserably—so bad that fans started whispering that he was throwing matches on purpose. He left Solaris with the intent of sharpening his skills and was confident that once he had his 'Mech again, it would be smooth sailing.

Hoping to make a triumphant return, Duncan Fisher entered a team qualifying tournament on Hardcore on 8 July 3041 in advance of a highly anticipated FedCom Unification Tournament at the end of the year on Solaris. The tournament announcer, Ava Masters, was a former lover of Fisher and often voiced her distain for him during the matches. Fortunately for Fisher, his duo partner Jake Mason carried the team through both the gauntlet and free-for-all matches, punching their ticket to Solaris.

Fisher set up a clandestine meeting with Solaris Arms handler Travis Sherk on 29 December 3041 in Bracken Swamp. Sherk demanded Fisher pay back the money given him, and when that didn't happen, he directed his friends at Vampire Stables to take him down. Luckily for Fisher, he was accompanied by Mason, who defended him so that he could retrieve his souped-up 'Mech. Unfortunately for Fisher, it was rigged with a nasty kill switch, and he was unable to continue competing in the arenas because his other 'Mech was too banged up to be fixed in time.

Solaris Games Announcer
When Solaris arena commentator Terry Zee suddenly fell dead during the opening team free-for-all match of the FedCom Unification Tournament on 29 December 3041, Duncan Fisher filled in for the final match at Steiner Stadium, consisting of three free-for-all rounds followed by a one-on-one between Jake Mason and Caleb Rourke. After Mason won the match and was declared the winner of the tournament, Fisher announced he was crowned the new Solaris commentator.

As of ca. 3066, Duncan Fisher was already an established announcer in the Solaris Games on Solaris VII. He covered the feats of the mercenary MechWarrior "Spectre" in the arenas, namely in Steiner Coliseum, The Jungle, and The Factory.cn

Notes
* The character's game dialogue lines were written by Eric Baudoin (aka Ferret Baudoin) and brought to life by voice actor George Ledoux out of a bare-bones concept that he was given to work with for the Solaris Games portion of the 4: Mercenaries computer game.

* The character apparently struck a chord with players and gained tremendous popularity. It took on a life of its own in the fashion of a BattleTech meme among the BattleTech player community, to the point where players lobbied Harebrained Schemes to hire George Ledoux as a voice actor for the upcoming BattleTech video game they had under development (even though the game's setting and timeframe precluded an appearance of the Duncan Fisher character proper).<br />George Ledoux reprised the role of Duncan Fisher for the MechWarrior: Living Legends fan project and a promotional video for Harebrained Schemes' BattleTech video game crowdfunding campaign, the teaser trailer for the Online Solaris expansion alongside the canonical Lars Olafson, the promotional video for BattleTech: Essentials, and others.

* Duncan Fisher was finally canonized in 2024, via a momentary mention in the story Ace Darwin and the Great Small World Prank War.
