Cooper, with the Thirteenth Wolf Guard Battle Cluster, was based on [[Alchiba]] as of 3145.<ref name=fm3145p170></ref>

In [[3150]], Clans [[Clan Jade Falcon|Jade Falcon]] and [[Clan Wolf|Wolf]] were battling over the world of [[Skye]]. [[Galaxy Commander]] [[Noritomo Helmer]] was commanding the elite Jade Falcon [[124th Striker (Clan Jade Falcon)|124th Striker Cluster]] when his 'Mech became trapped under a collapsing building. After the planet had fallen into Wolf hands, Noritomo was rescued alive and taken as [[bondsman]] by Don Cooper. The Star Colonel made Helmer ''[[abtakha]]'' shortly thereafter.<ref name=SFp84></ref>

Cooper remained in command of Thirteenth Wolf Guard Battle Cluster during the [[Battle of Terra (3151)|Battle of Terra]] in [[3151]], participating in the Wolves' Asian campaign, where his unit was ambushed during the first week of the invasion in Vietnam by the [[Tenth Republic Militia]]. His [[Cluster]], against Cooper's orders, gave chase to the Tenth into the Vietnamese jungle in order to seek revenge for their losses. This only increased the Thirteenth's casualties, as they become lost and confused in the confines of the jungle, and were constantly subject to hit-and-run attacks until the survivors were able to escape.<ref name=IlClanp26></ref>
