The '''Eighth Andurien Hussars''' [[regiment]] was founded by the [[Capellan Confederation Armed Forces]] in [[2784]], although the origins of the Eighth lay in two older commands, the [[133rd Jump Infantry Division]] and the [[Third French Infantry Regiment]].<ref name="FSWp32">''First Succession War'', p. 32, "Those Left Behind"</ref> The 133rd was a part of [[XXXI Corps (Star League)|XXXI Corps]], within the [[Star League Defense Force]] [[13th Army (Star League)|Thirteenth Army]],<ref name="SLp146">''The Star League'', p. 146, "Thirteenth Army"</ref> whilst the Third French Regiment was an independent regiment within [[XXXII Corps (Star League)|XXXII Corps]] of the [[14th Army (Star League)|Fourteenth Army]];<ref name=SL147>''The Star League'', p. 147, "Fourteenth Army"</ref> the [[Capellan Confederation Armed Forces]] recruited two [[battalion]]s of SLDF personnel from the 133rd in 2784, and using those battalions plus some of the personnel from the Third after the Third was recruited in [[2785]], mustered the personnel as the new Eighth Andurien Hussars.<ref name="FSWp32"/>

In [[2822]] the Eighth and [[Ninth Andurien Hussars]] left the CCAF and formed a new mercenary command, the [[Dismal Disinherited]].<ref name="FSWp36">''First Succession War'', p. 36, "Those Left Behind"</ref> In addition to being a sister regiment to the Eighth, the Ninth had also been mustered around personnel from the Third French Infantry Regiment in 2785.<ref name="FSWp32"/> The core of the Eighth and Ninth Hussars' desertion lay in their parlous supply state and low morale - problems exacerbated by the pragmatic manner with which [[Chancellor]] [[Ilsa Liao]] was forced to act towards the many shattered [[CCAF]] commands in the interwar years. With more demands for matériel and personnel than could possibly be met, Ilsa prioritized some units over others; those denied supplies often had to be reined back in by the Capellan security services to keep them in check after they mutinied, but this wasn't enough to prevent the Eighth and Ninth Hussars deserting.<ref name="SSWp23">''Second Succession War'', p. 23, "The Suns-Confederation Front"</ref>
