==Description==
The '''Ryu heavy transport''' ([[Wing in Ground Effect]], or WiGE) was produced by [[Wakazashi Enterprises]] for use by planetary militias. Based on Wakazashi's civilian version, the Ryu shares much of the [[Koi]]'s mechanics and design features.<ref name="TRO:VAp90"/><ref name="TRO:VArp90"/>

The craft was designed as a logistic support craft, moving military equipment, personnel, vehicles, and [[BattleMechs]], as called upon. However, the vehicle armor was only slightly increased by a ton from its civilian version, making it vulnerable to ground weapons fire. Weapons have been added to provide some defense, but the vehicle is built for use in the strategic rear area.<ref name="TRO:VAp90"/><ref name="TRO:VArp90"/>

After the [[Jihad]] ended, [[Kervil]] became part of [[The Republic of the Sphere]] and hosted the main production lines for the [[Koi]], Ryu, and Nishikigoi WiGEs. The [[Republic Armed Forces]], therefore, had access to these WiGEs.<ref name="TRO:VAp90"/><ref name="TRO:VArp90"/>

== Weapons and Equipment ==
The ship had been given a basic set of weaponry, in order to provide cover fire for troops and other military hardware being offloaded.  It has a single Class 5 [[autocannon]] mounted in a turret, while four machine guns—two mounted in front and a single gun mounted on each side—provided anti-infantry deterrence. The autocannon had two tons of ammunition and the machine guns a half-ton. These weapons were guided by a [[basic fire control]] system.<ref name="TRO:VAp90"/><ref name="TRO:VArp90"/>

The Ryu had a [[cargo bay]] capacity of 108 tons, with doors front and back for unloading. The craft had an amphibious chassis, giving it the capability to load and unload cargo at sea. The ship was protected by four tons of BAR 6 grade commercial armor.<ref name="TRO:VAp90"/><ref name="TRO:VArp90"/>
