Jirik was the cameraman for [[James Shaw]], a well known field journalist, during his investigation of the [[Exituri]] religious cult on the [[Free Worlds League]] world of [[Shiloh]] in late [[3067]].

He contributed the last section of a syndicated article for IMI masthead Irian News Interstellar, which reported Shaw had been captured and tortured by the Exituri [[Blessed Leader]] [[Elena Kubayshev]], and that his colleagues were unsure if Shaw had survived the ordeal or not.<ref name=ISP></ref>
