When the Valkyries' [[Leopard CV (DropShip class)|''Leopard CV'']]-class [[DropShip|carrier]] was destroyed by the [[Draconis Combine]]'s initial attack, squadron commander [[Captain]] [[Henrietta Vickers]] lead her pilots in a coordinated strike that destroyed half a squadron of enemy ''[[Koroshiya]]'' fighters with their [[Gauss rifle|Gauss rifles]] before disabling an [[Okinawa (DropShip class)|''Okinawa'']]-class DropShip. The Valkyries then struck against a [[Taihou|''Taihou''-class]] DropShip in an effort to save the [[Nikolai Rostov (Individial Star Lord-class JumpShip)|FSS ''Nikolai Rostov'']] from destruction.
